Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B Laori, the Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the Nigerian National Assembly is an accomplished Attorney at Law with about 3 Decades of flawless legal practice in Nigeria. Rt. Hon Kwamoti is a seasoned Nigerian Legislator Par Excellence, with over a decade experience of phenomenal representation and contribution to law making at the state and national legislature in Nigeria. He is the first elected Legislator to maintain a functional Constituency Office and annually holds town hall meetings to present his scored card to his constituents and receive feedback for further legislative action. His journey as a legislator began in 2007 when he was elected to represent the people of Numan Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly for 2 consecutive terms of 8 years i.e from 2007 to 2015.
At the Adamawa State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Member held various leadership positions including Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader, Deputy Speaker, Speaker, and Chairman of various Committees of the House, where he displayed uncommon leadership skills that endeared him to many across the state and the Nation at large. In 2015, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti was elected Member, House of Representatives.
In the 8th National Assembly, where he served as Chairman, House Committee on FCT Judiciary and member of several House Standing Committees which was short-lived. He was reelected in 2019, again in 2023 and currently serve as Chairman Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa. He is also Chairman and member of various Ad-Hoc committees where his experience is benefiting the nation.
In addition to his numerous contributions to law making, in terms of Bills and Motions, the Rt. Hon Member has sponsored various empowerment and infrastructure development projects throughout his constituency, a feat that earned him many accolades and recognitions beyond his constituency. He is reputed to have executed critical infrastructure projects in more than 90% of the 30 Wards that forms his Constituency, in less than 3 years.
In March, 2021 Rt. Hon. Kwamoti was among the few eminent Nigerians recognized as “Agent of Transformation” by the Nigerian Online Journalists in recognition of his invaluable contributions to national development as a Federal Law Maker. A feat achieved by no one else before him.
Rt. Hon. Kwamoti is an alumnus of Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, University of Jos, Nigeria and International Security Organization (ISO/SEC) Switzerland to mention a few. For his passion to affect lives positively, He is an active member of several humanitarian and philanthropic organizations such as the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Nigerian Bar Association, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria among others.
Kwamoti is an inspiration to many youths, a leadership mentor and grassroots community mobilizer; He is widely regarded as the “Advocate of the poor and vulnerable” for offering free legal service (pro-bono) and sponsoring children of the economically poor at various levels of education across Nigeria as well as shouldering the medical bills of many vulnerable people within and outside his constituency.
As a committed party man, Hon. Laori is an Appointed member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee, the leader of the Adamawa State Caucus in the House of Representatives and currently serving in various committees and capacities.
Rt. Hon. Kwamoti was born on 17th October, 1966 in Numan, Adamawa State- Nigeria; he is a recipient of many meritorious awards and honors. In recognition of his invaluable contributions to peace building and development in Numan Federation, he holds the traditional titles of “SUNGA - TAKALE - BATA” in Bata Traditional Council; “MURUM - BONDO - MBULA” in Mbula Traditional Council; “ENYI-OMA - NDI - IBO” in Ibo Traditional Council and KORMO-BACHAMA in the Bachama Traditional Council . Rt. Hon. Kwamoti is married to Dr. Celine K. Laori and blessed with biological and foster children. His hobbies include reading, sports, travelling, critical thinking towards problem solving and putting smiles on the faces of people in distress. He is devote believer in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is using his gifts to glorify God.
